Hi! I am Maria, a visual artist and art educator, born and raised in Saint Petersburg.
I studied Graphic Design at university and completed evening drawing classes at the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts. For almost ten years, I studied in a private studio with the St. Petersburg watercolor artist Viktor Zhadanov, where close attention to material, observation, and process shaped my artistic foundation.

Since 2019, I have been living and working in Berlin. Alongside my studio practice www.lukomsky.art, I have been developing educational formats for children and adults that grow directly out of my experience as an artist. My work is rooted in slow processes, material-based exploration, and the belief that art is a way of thinking, sensing, and being in contact with the world.
I am also a mother to my son, Makar. Parenthood has deeply influenced my approach to teaching — strengthening my interest in attentiveness, trust, and creating spaces where curiosity can unfold without pressure.
In 2026, I decided to bring my artistic practice and teaching together under one roof through Malevala. Happy to meet you there!
